CRIMESTOPPERS
is a program which involves the public, the media, and law enforcement in the fight against crime. It offers anonymity and cash rewards to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest and the filing of criminal charges against felony crime offenders and the capture of fugitives.

The responsibility for establishing policy and raising funds as well as controlling the amount of reward payments rests with the CRIMESTOPPERS Board of Directors, which is comprised of concerned citizens who oversee the operation of the program. It is a Nonprofit Organization and is funded entirely through donations from the public. Contributions are tax-deductible.

How Does It Work?

Central Montana Crime Stoppers paid five rewards totaling $1,050, in 2007.

When a crime or tip is reported to CRIMESTOPPERS, it is logged with the date, time, and a brief summary of the reporter's information. Reporters are furnished with a secret code number which is used in subsequent transactions.

Reporters may remain anonymous, with no pressure to reveal their identity, and still collect their rewards.

If a reporter's information results in the arrest and the filing of criminal charges against a felony crime offender or the apprehension of a felony fugitive, contact will be made with the reporter and arrangements made so that they can receive their reward in CASH and preserve their anonymity.
